ZIP or “City, ST”. Optional location is opt-in only. Place lookup uses U.S. Census ZIP and place centroids; grid, hourly, observations, and alerts come from api.weather.gov. If a live call fails, we send you to weather.gov — we never invent a temperature. No API key is required for these public endpoints.
No default city is assumed. Saved places stay in this browser only.
